Pacific Science Center

Downtown Seattle

My next stop in downtown Seattle was the Pacific Science Center! I had heard about a really cool new IMAX documentary about the temperate rainforest in British Columbia. It's called Great Bear Rainforest and it's showing at a few different science museums in Canada and the United States. Brooke's family are members of the Pacific Science Center and got us tickets to see the film! It was really good. I especially loved learning about Spirit Bears, which are the world's rarest bear.  I'm so happy we got to see it!

After the film, we spent some time exploring the main parts of the museum.  Here we are in front of a model of our solar system! Brooke and I both enjoy learning about space.  In fact, I would be in Seattle during the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing! I was a little bit sad because I celebrated the 40th anniversary with my best friend, Violet.  However, I was glad to spend some time with Brooke, especially in a place as beautiful as the Pacific Northwest!

Here we are pretending to be exploring the surface of the moon! Of course, if we were truly on the moon, we would need to wear special suits. Can you imagine what it would be like to see the Earth from so far away? I'm sure our Mother Earth looks beautiful.

After we finished looking at the different exhibits in the space section of the Pacific Science Center, we headed into the dinosaur section! Here we are with an animatronic version of Parasaurolophus, which was a type of duck-billed dinosaur.  Scientists have found Parasaurolophus fossils in China, New Mexico, Utah, and Alberta.  They were herbivores and one of the skeletons was 31 feet long. Whoa!

Carnivorous dinosaurs are pretty awesome too. I'm pretty sure this is a Velociraptor! If you've seen any of the Jurassic Park movies, you'll remember these dinosaurs! I think they look pretty scary.  In fact, the Jurassic Park movies are the scariest movies I've ever seen. I don't think I could handle anything scarier!

Our visit to the Pacific Science Center was really fun.  I loved seeing Great Bear Rainforest in particular. I'm so thankful that Brooke's family got us tickets to it! Have you ever seen an IMAX movie?
