Reid Park Zoo

Tucson's Reid Park Zoo

After my road trip with my friend Raven's family, I needed a lot of time to relax! One of the best places to do so is at the zoo! I met up with my friend Summer to explore Tucson's Reid Park Zoo. It was a truly hot day, so Summer and I did our best to scamper from shady spot to shady spot. Here we are in front of a waterfall and waterwheel-  don't they make it look nice and cool?

Here is a photo of me and Summer by the duck pond. You can't see them in this photo, but there were baby ducklings swimming in the pond, following their parents! It was so cute. I wanted to chase them, catch them, and bring them all home with me! However, you should never feed zoo animals, so I stood back and enjoyed watching them.

Finally, we headed to the see the zoo's latest exhibit- Expedition Tanzania! Can you see the elephants behind me? There was a bull, a mama, and a really cute baby. Did you know mama elephant are pregnant for two years? Wow!

Expedition Tanzania has lots of interactive stations. At this one, Summer and I are seeing how much we weight compared to an elephant. Who do you think weighs more- me and Summer or a baby elephant?

We ended up zoo visit with an elephant ride! Of course, we rode a statue instead of a real elephant. After the zoo, we headed back to Summer's house, where I got to meet her friend Rebecca! We drank iced tea and just hung out. I loved my trip across Arizona with Raven, but I was glad to relax for the day. What do you like to do to unwind after a long trip?

  1. Bonsoir, Inky!
Wow, that zoo is gorgeous! I love the photo of you two near the duck pond. I also like the picture with the elephants in the background. My mom really likes elephants- she has a collection of porcelain figures. Even though my mom and I don't really get along, I kind-of miss her after seeing this post.
After long trips, I like to sprawl out on my bed and listen to my iPod! Listening to music is so relaxing! I also like to text my friends and let them know I'm back home as well as upload my photos to the computer.

    1. Hello Sabine!

The zoo really was lovely. The elephants are a new, big exhibit. Do you ever go to the zoo? Is there a zoo in Lille?

I love listening to my iPod. I like the Spice Girls and the Decemberists!

    1. Lanie,
I can't wait to be home to unpack all my souvenirs! Arizona is behind my time zone, so when I get back to NYC, I am 3 hours off.

The zoo was really fun. You and your mom should definitely go to a zoo!! I didn't see any red pandas- the weather in the Southwest is too hot for them.

  3. Yay Inky, I'm glad you posted about our day at the zoo (and that you had a relaxing time at my house! I really like hanging out with you. Since we have a lot of things in common, it's really easy to just relax and be myself. Hope you can come to Tucson again soon. I wish I could travel to NY in the near future, but I don't think it's in the cards. One of these days I do hope I can though. It would be great to have you show me around your home town!
    xoxo,
    Summer

  4. Hey Inky,
Stella and I wish our girls could go to the zoo, but we happen to have eight of them in our house. Not by choice but they were found in the bushes at our home. They have been around for thousands of years and Emmi seems to really like animals and going to a zoo would be a good choice. If you want to find out more information about them, you can check out our new blog www.safeandsoundgirls.blogspot.com We would love if you checked it out!!

  5. Hi inky,
The photo of you and Summer by the duck pond is really pretty. The water looks so serene and calm. I bet it was really peaceful there. Personally, I'd love a little peace right now! I'm working really hard packing and cleaning, because my family's moving at the end of August, so peace sounds like a forgotten dream to me!

The elephants looked really powerful, but also pretty awesome. I can't believe a mother elephant is pregnant for two years! Thats insane! If I were an elephant, I'm not sure i'd want to have kids. :) It looks like you guys had a great time! You've made me want to go to the zoo now....

    1. Hi Samantha,

Wow, moving sounds pretty exciting! I moved two years ago and it was a big pain in the butt. I had such a hard time putting my things in the right spots.

Wouldn't being pregnant for that long be weird?

You should totally visit a zoo!

      Love,
      Inky
