Exploring Paris

Paris
Paris is such a gorgeous city - and what trip to Paris would be complete without a stop by the Eiffel Tower? The Eiffel Tower, or the Tour Eiffel in French,  is 1,063 feet tall and weighs 10,100 tons. Whoa! It's definitely an iconic symbol of Paris.  My moms and I took a bus to the Champs de Mars so that we could explore and take photos with the tower.  There were lots of people there selling little Eiffel Tower toys; they were pretty aggressive, so we kept to ourselves and walked to the Seine.

Soon we crossed the Quai Branly and were on the promenade with the Tour Eiffel behind us. Even though it was cloudy, it was warm and breezy. It was perfect weather for a tourist activity I had asked to do!

It was time to find the Vedettes du Pont Neuf, or the river cruise boats! They take you up and down the Seine river for an hour, while a guide explains the different places the boat passes.  It was really fun! I had asked my moms if we could do it, since my Mom found a Groupon.  They agreed, which was great! My mama told me she took a canal boat through Amsterdam when she was my age, so she knew I'd love the vedettes.

As we cruised along the river, I saw things like the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée du Louvre. This picture has Notre Dame de Paris, the huge cathedral, behind me! It was really fun to ride the boat and see the people on the bridges waving down at us.

Paris

After an hour, we docked back at Quai Branly and disembarked from the boat. I got out my my map of Paris to orient myself. My family travels a lot. While we don't assume we'll be back to a particular city, we believe that we can make it back if we make it a priority.  This trip to Paris was pretty relaxed, so we only did a few things over the few days we were there.  After our river cruise, we headed to Le Marais, the old Jewish quarter, to eat amazing falafel at L'As du Fallafel! It was amazing, but we were too busy eating to take any photos.

Paris

I gave the Tour Eiffel one last smile before we headed to Le Marais on the Paris Métro, or subway.  Amazingly, our room in Montmartre had a gorgeous tower view; the tower puts on a light show every every night on the hour.  So it's true- Paris really is the City of Lights!

Have you ever been on a river cruise tour? Which city were you in and what did you see?
