Tombstone, Arizona. It sounds spooky, right? It's not! I had the chance to visit the town with my friends Raven and Cody while I was in Arizona. The town is pretty small- the main thing you do is walk up and down a street with lots of little shops. Raven was joking that it's pretty puny compared to New York. She was right, but it was still fun!
Cody's family likes to eat a saloon called Big Nose Kate's, so we went there. The three of us kids stood on the piano for a photo. Please excuse the naked lady!!
Raven and I had fun climbing on the hitching posts outside the restaurant. The main street has a dirt road, which makes it feel old timey. Fun!
Here's Raven with some cigar store statues. We definitely learned that Tombstone, in its heyday, was not a good place for kids. It was full of saloons, cowboys, and dancing ladies. There were even gunfights. Yikes!
Still, Tombstone is a pretty fun place to visit. There are stagecoach rides and you can have your family's photo taken in cowboy and saloon girl clothes. The best part is the old fashioned candy! Have you ever been to a place like Tombstone? What did you do?

It does look like a fun place to visit, and the interactiveness of the place reminds me of Avonlea Village (in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Canada) and also of Old Sturbridge Village (in Sturbridge, MA). I love being able to get old-fashioned candy at places like that - I know I got a huge maple-flavored lollipop in Sturbridge. It was delicious!
Tombstone looks like it was lifted right out of a cowboy movie set! I've never, ever been to Arizona, so the southwest is still very surreal to me. I guess I'll have to go someday! I'm told that my guardian has family out there somewhere. Maybe I can sneak along, if she ever decides to visit them!
Big Nose Kate's is such a funny name, even for a saloon! It looks like a fun place to eat at, though. What did you have?

I had mozzarella sticks! They were good, but the best part was the sarsaparilla! Yum! I'm pretty sure it's just another name for root beer, but it was delicious!

ReplyDeleteTombstone sure sounds like a fun place! Not back then though, I'm personally not one for saloon's! I do adore old-fashioned candy, I'd pick it over Skittles or Hershey's any day! I love peppermint sticks! Delicious! But I adore Cody's outfit! So cute, you girls should've worn cowgirl hats! Then you could blend into the crowd! Well at least the crowd in the 1800s! Now wouldn't that be something? Time Travel! Haha! But anyways, Tombstone sounds like a barrel of fun! Haha, Barrel... I'm really bad at jokes... :D
Aww, cowboy hats would be fun! I'll have to ask for one for New Year. There were a lot of people there wearing them, both the reenactors and just regular tourists.
