Albuquerque Biopark

While I was in New Mexico visiting my Grandma, my family set up a playdate for me at the zoo! I was looking forward to it so I could meet my new friend Josh. Josh is younger than me, but he's still fun. I was also excited to visit the Albuquerque Biopark because they are one of the only zoos in the country with koalas! Josh was very familiar with the zoo, so he gave me an excellent tour. First though, we stopped at the zoo cafe for some chicken strips. While we were eating, Josh and his mom surprised me with a special Albuquerque tee! I went into the bathroom to change to my new top.
Our first stop was at the Australia section. The zoo has many animals from Australia, like koalas, tree kangaroos, and wombats! I wanted to see the wombats, but they were sleeping.
See this little green splotches behind me? Those are parakeets, which are native to Australia! They were really cute, but you have to be careful and make sure not to let any out of their exhibit.
Once you walk through the parakeet exhibit, you enter a big room. Just to the left is the koala! Isn't it cute? It was much bigger than I thought it would be. It was sitting there sleepily munching on eucalyptus leaves. Aww!
Over in the next exhibit was another special animal- a tree kangaroo! He's the brown splotch in the background of this picture. They're very cute too.
After we left Australia, we contined to wander around the zoo. Near the café, we saw these awesome polar bears. It was a very hot New Mexico day, so the polar bears were enjoying themselves by swimming. I was so hot that I wanted to jump in with them, but I know polar bears are wild animals, even if they do look very cuddly.
We also checked out the giraffe exhibit. While I was having my photo taken, one of the giraffes came right up behind me! Doesn't it look cool? Awesome pants! I love giraffes, though they make me feel very short.
One of the nice things about the Albuquerque Biopark are all the pretty and refreshing water features throughout the zoo. Before we left, we took photos by this pretty waterfall. It looked so cool, I wanted to jump right in!
I had a great time at the zoo with Josh. I'm really glad he invited me on a playdate. Have you ever hung out with someone older or younger? Did you have fun?
In this entry I'm wearing: American Girl 2011 sporty sandals, shorts from the American Girl 2012 Hiking Outfit, a homemade white tee, and a red tee from Royal Doll Boutique.

This is awesome! i love you inky!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think you're awesome too!
DeleteSalut, Inky!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and Josh had a great time. I love the polar bear- he looks so cute. This zoo reminds me so much of the zoo in my hometown. Actually, the zoo is in one of my favorite parks! When I was little, I was obsessed with the peacock.
I love hanging out with people younger and older than me. There isn't much competition or drama with them. My brother is four years older than me, and I used to do things with him and his friends all the time. I also used to depend on him when I needed homework help. He actually taught me a few English words when he was my age! I am also very close with Julien's younger sister; she's two years younger than us.
I know that I'm older than you, but if I ever get the chance to visit you in NYC, I hope you'd still want to hang out with me.
Bisous,
Sabine
Hi Sabine!
DeleteThe polar bear was super cute. What is the zoo like in Lille? I went to the zoo in Ukraine, but I thought it was pretty depressing. It was all concrete and iron bars.
I would love it if you visited me in New York, even if you are pretty old! ;)
Love,
Inky
Hey Super! Zoos are a lot of fun, and that one looks really natural...the animals aren't in cages. BTW...what kind of doll is Josh?
ReplyDeleteJosh is a Kidz N Cats doll, but he has been customized with a new wig.
DeleteI have a friend at school who is six. Her name is Rosie and is kind of annoying sometimes but mostly she is very fun to play with :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an awesome zoo! The animals must be happy to not be in cages. The zoo where I live had a polar bear (the climate is probably a lot better for them than New Mexico, haha) but it died. I like polar bears a lot but I have never seen a giraffe before.
Rosie sounds really fun! We used to have two polar bears here at the Central Park Zoo, but one of them died. :(
DeleteI think the animals at the Rio Grande Zoo are really happy to not be in metal cages!
Looks fun inky! While i am in NYC i will be going to central park! On sunday. but i am wondering if you are able to meet me? i am not sure yet but it would be fun!!

Hi Benny!
DeleteYour blog is awesome! Thank you for sharing it with me!

Josh is 6 years old. He is a Kidz N Cats doll, model named "Alister". I changed his wig, so if you see pictures of Alister or buy one, his hair will be different. We had a lot of fun with Inky at the Rio Grande Zoo, and hope to see her again some time when she is out visiting her family! ~Josh's mom.
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun with Josh! I'm looking forward to hanging out again next time we're in New Mexico!

Hello Inky!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a fun day at the zoo!! My top favorite zoo is the London Zoo (I lived there until I was adopted in early 2010), but the USA has some neat zoos, too!
Josh is so cute! He reminds me of my little brother, William.
I don't know if this counts, but all my siblings (with the exception of Amber) are younger or older than I am. Even though we have age differences, we have the best times together!
Yay Australia! Me an my human live there! I am lucky enough to see Koala's and Kangaroo's in the wild AND Daily. I love koala's, their my favourite animal (besides bunnies).
