My friend Brooke and I decorated my New Year tree together last year. We had so much fun that I invited her over to do it again this year! Usually we set up our tree in early or mid December, but this year, we started a bit late. Brooke is so much fun. We decided to start by putting on the soundtrack to the new movie Moana. I love to sing the first few lines of the song Shiny and it was especially fitting since we were putting shiny, sparkly decorations up!
My mom and Mama put the lights on the tree for us, but Brooke had brought over some new bead garland! It's pink and very pretty, so Brooke and I worked hard to drape it over the branches of the tree. In my family, our tree is in honor of New Year and not Christmas.
Soon it was time to hang the ornaments themselves! Every year, my favorite ornament is a little white snowflake with a blue face.
Brooke liked this little angel ornament. I have to agree with her that it is very cute!
I was pretty shocked that Brooke was able to put the star on the tree by herself! She jumped right up onto my bed and carefully put the star into place. It's so pretty! (and shiny!)
That night, Brooke slept over. We fell asleep to the light of the fairy lights on the tree. It was so pretty and magical! I could almost imagine it growing to be tens of feet tall as I walked off to the Land of the Sugarplum Fairy!
