Making Valentines

Inky Makes Valentines 2014

Hello everyone and Happy Valentine's Day to you!  One of my favorite traditions is making valentines for my friends.   Since I am homeschooled, I don't have school friends to exchange cards with- so I send them to my blog friends! I used to give cards to my friends in ballet class, but now that I am no longer studying dance, I don't do that either. (Psst, sorry my shirt is so wrinkly! I was so excited to wear it that I didn't bother asking a mom to iron it for me.)

I actually made my valentines several days ago, so that I could mail them in time to arrive at my friends' houses before the holiday.   I decided to make cards with pins, since I *love* pins! I also included valentine-themed puzzles for my friends.

I buy little pins all year round, just for occasions like this. Here are some of the the little pins I chose to use.

The first step was putting the pins in the corner of the little pink cards.  I tried to pick photos with a love theme- like these cute owls! I also chose a sticker for each card.  On this card, I chose a glittery pink peacock.

Next I wrote "Happy Valentine's Day!" on each card and signed my name in pink ink. I don't usually like to wear pink or use pink in my crafts, but something about Valentine's Day puts me in a lovey mood that makes me love pink!

After I signed my cards, I carefully slid the cards into pink and red striped envelopes. Very cute!

Once I had put my cards into the envelopes, it was time to put these adorable name labels on my cards. As you can see, this one is for Sophie, my French friend!

Then it was time to choose a puzzle for each friend- I bought woodland-themed puzzles.  Some of them had owls, others foxes or hedgehogs! So cute, right?

I bought little kraft paper bags to hold the valentines and puzzles, so that they would make a cute package to send to friends.  I carefully slid a puzzle and card into each envelope, making sure not to rip the bag.

By the time I had made valentines for my blog friends, I had a big stack of valentine bags! Hurray! Happy Valentine's Day!

And that's all! I love making valentines. I'm looking forward to hearing if my friends liked their valentines and puzzles! Did you make valentines this year? What kind did you make?

In this entry I'm wearing: narwhal appliqué shirt from Dynamite Threads, grey pants from Liberty Jane Clothing.
