Happy Nutcracker Season!

Coral as Marie/ Clara

This winter, Coral and I are honored to be performing in the Nutcracker! Today, Coral had her photos taken at the fountain in Lincoln Center Plaza. Doesn't she look beautiful? She is performing as Marie, the main character in the show. (Most companies call that role Clara, in case you're a bit confused!)

Coral as Marie/ Clara

Coral is so excited about her part! She started performing a few days ago and she is loving it. I'm performing in the other class as a polichinelle- Nutcracker season is my favorite part of being a ballet student. There's just something so magical about hearing the music and waiting in the wings. The Nutcracker music is played a lot at this time of year- whenever I hear it when I'm out shopping, my feet automatically want to dance!

Doesn't Coral look beautiful in her costume? It was specially made for her by Melody Valerie Couture.

Inky Polichinelle 2010

And last of all, here I am in my polichinelle costume- also by Melody Valerie! This is my third year as a polichinelle. It's because I'm just the right size for the costume. That's okay though- I love the role!

Have you ever been in a holiday play or performance? What did you do?

  3. Salut, Inky!
You and Coral look absolutely beautiful. I wish that I could see you guys perform. Nutcracker season is magical; I absolutely love it! I wish it would never end but at least I have our spring performance of Coppélia to look forward to.
As you may know, my studio is doing the Nutcracker, too. I'm in Waltz of the Snowflake and I also got the role I've been wanting forever- the Dewdrop. Unfortunately, I have to alternate with Aurélie.
Last year, I was a reed flute, and I loved that dance! I've had so many roles over the years. I hope I can be the Sugar Plum Fairy in a few years when I'm older. That's definitely my favorite Nutcracker role!!!!
    Merde to you both,
    Sandrine <3

    1. Hello Sandrine!
Thank you for your compliments! I'm sure you look gorgeous in your Dewdrop and snowflake costumes. I love our company's snowflake costumes. They are very light blue, so that they look white. So beautiful!

Coral will have an announcement soon about an audition she's doing for a spring performance!

      Thank you Sandrine!

      Love,
      Inky

    1. Hi Sparrow!

Herr Drosselmeier is such a cool part. Did you know my grandpa plays that part every year in a local production? I guess dance runs in my family!

  9. I love the outfits! They remind me of the Holidays and so does the Nutcracker. Coral's dress reminds me of a holiday red dress I just bought for my doll, Emma (http://www.penpalgirls.com/shop/belgium/lace-doll-dress). What do you think of Emma's new dress? Can't wait for it to come and Emma to be all dressed up for the holidays like Coral.

  10. Oh Inky, how completely special both costumes turned out. Awesome!! I am excited for you, we are keeping busy with our preformances and recitals this season. I have never played or danced the nutcracker, but we do a program every year at our school. I love to play the piano most of all for the dances.

    Love to Ya,

It's so cool that you can play piano. I take viola lessons but I really hate them! I can't wait until I am old enough to quit! Heehee! Happy Holidays!
