Phoenix Zoo & Steampunk Addie

Phoenix Zoo

Hi everyone! It's me, Inky! I'm writing today about a day I spent in Arizona's state capitol, Phoenix. On my big trip to the Southwest, I had the opportunity to visit the Phoenix Zoo. It was a pretty big zoo, but it was also very, very hot when I was there. One of the exciting things about the zoo is that a photographer takes a portrait of you as you enter. Do you think I look nice?

Phoenix Zoo

Raven came with me, of course, and the two of us set off to explore the zoo. The first thing we did was take the zoo tram around the zoo. This is a great way to see the zoo when it is hot, but we didn't like it very much because the tram is on a schedule, so it doesn't stop so you can better see the animals. Once the tram ride was over, we decided to walk around and visit some of the animals that we missed.

Phoenix Zoo

Raven and I both really enjoyed the zebras. I had seen them with Summer at the Tucson Zoo, but these were more active. They kept running around and chasing each other around their exhibit. Most of the animals were spending their time indoors or sleeping, so we didn't get very many animal photos.

Phoenix Zoo

Outside the Great Ape exhibit, I found this awesome orangutan statue! I really like orangutans. They're so orange! Do you have a favorite type of primate?

Meeting Steampunk Addie After the zoo, we went to meet a special friend- Steampunk Addie! She had originally planned to come to the zoo with us, but her Momma had to go to the hospital. We went to the hospital to visit Addie and her Momma and Big Sister; luckily they were discharged just as we got there! We decided to go to Addie's house to hang out. I particularly wanted to see her Rex cats and her toy dirigible. Everyone in Addie's family was very congenial, but of course- our parents insisted on a group photo. Not only that, I had spilled iced tea all over my tee shirt so I had to change into a dress! Argh!

Meeting Steampunk Addie

Steampunk Addie is definitely, positively awesome. I had a great time meeting her. Raven seems to have a bit of a crush on Addie and her black boots! Addie and I pinky promised that we would be sure to meet up again, either in Arizona or in New York City. I'm glad to have made a new friend- especially one with a dirigible! Have you ever seen a dirigible? How about the zoo? What's your favorite zoo animal?

In this entry, I'm wearing: blue star tee by Lizzie Bee Designs, denim cut-offs by Pleasant Piper, grey Janes shoes by A Bee Line; blue popover sundress and linen jacket by Royal Doll Boutique.

P.S. I am thinking of adding a little paragraph to each post that will say where I got my clothes in that entry. Would this be interesting to readers? Please let me know.

  3. It was delightful to meet you and Raven, also. I thought your dress was quite appropriate but you, of course, could have borrowed something of mine. I look forward to seeing you again and make Mamma promise nightly while looking at your likeness.

    Sincerely Yours,
    Steampunk Addie

  4. Dear Inky,
It would be great to have a paragraph like that! I think your clothes are really cool so I would like to know where to buy clothes like them.
That zoo looks really fun! One of my favorite zoo (aquarium?) animals is a dolphin. I have never seen a dolphin before except in pictures and movies, though. But I have seen KILLER WHALES!!! Our house here has a view of the sea, and one night some killer whales swam past. They were pretty far away, so I could only see the top part, but it was still very cool.
    Love,
    Callie
    P.S. What is steam punk?

  5. Callie,
You have seen killer whales? Awesome! I have always wanted to see an orca, but I haven't had the chance yet. I did get to see beluga whales at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago though.

Steam punk is a style based on the steam era, around the time of the industrial revolution.

    xoxo,

    Inky
