Casa Grande Pet Hospital

1

One sunny Monday, Raven and I took a special trip to Casa Grande, Arizona. Raven's mom had finally given Raven permission to pick out a pet! When we walked in, the hutches were full of animals.

2

On the top row, there were four kittens. They ran to the front of the hutches and looked out at us.

3

Right away, Raven saw a pair that looked especially playful. We walked up to them and looked in their hutch. They walked right up to the door and looked back at me and Raven.

4

They were very good kitties. When the attendant let us open the hutch, they stayed right on their cushion.

5

There was a little orange one with a silly smile and a tuxedo with a little frown. "Hello!" we said to the kitties.

6

The attendant let us take the kittens out to play with them. They were so sweet! Right away, the orange one went up to Raven and the tuxedo one came to me. We pet them very gently.

7

It was clear that Raven was going to choose to take the orange kitten home with her. He stood up on his back legs and gave her little kisses on her hand. Raven was so happy!

8

Meanwhile, I couldn't take my eyes off the little tuxedo cat. When I had gone back to New York City earlier in the month, my cat Chaika had finally come home. I looked at the little black kitty and knew he needed a home too. Earlier in the year, we had to give away our second cat, a Siamese, because he was very aggressive and wouldn't stop attacking Chaika. He is in a happy new home now, as an only kitty- but I knew Chaika would want a friend. I looked over at Mama and she nodded. Yes!! I could take the little tuxedo kitty home!

We had new pets! The pet hospital also sells pet furniture to raise money for the animals. My mama let me pick out this awesome kitty tree that matches my bed! The attendant brought it out into the playroom and right away, our kitties jumped up on it. Raven is so happy with her new kitten. She named him Rico! I looked my little tuxedo kitten in the eye and he told me his name- Niko! I'm so glad Raven and I got to visit the Casa Grande Pet Hospital- they had just the right kitties for our families!

    1. They are totally cute! Before I lost Chaika at the beginning of the summer, I didn't think I could imagine life without her. Well, life without her was very sad and lonely! I'm glad she's back.

  4. I love rescuing animals in need! I have a rescue dog. He came from a shelter far away. Now he's my best friend. I want to rescue another one soon. I hope your new kitty and Chaika become good friends.

    1. Susanna,
That's awesome that you have a rescue dog! Chaika was from a breeder, but I'm glad we got Niko from a humane society. He really needed a family!

  5. Aww, Inky! That's awesome that you both got to make new furry friends. I'm sure Chaika will be happy to have a new buddy to play with! You picked some really cute names, too! My mom's friend Skye (whom I am living with) fosters animals and then puts them up for adoption, so we have a lot of pets around. We already have three pet dogs, but she's looking to adopt a cat (or two, or three!). I'm so excited! I love kitties. It's super cool that you two found some kitties that were just right for you! :D

  6. What a great place to visit! They have wonderful furniture and a great selection for pets! It wouldn't be hard to go home with a cat tree or pet house, or rabbit hutch!

    1. It was very hard for me to leave without a rabbit hutch, but considering that I live in NYC and have no yard, the decision was clear. Stinkbugs!

  8. Hugs Inky, we are all happy that Chaika came back to you and will now have a new friend to play with too. Are they getting along?? Hope so .. we miss you.

Forgot to say that we have several foster animals, we love to adopt the poor pets that no one wants.
