Bolton Girls at the AMNH

At the American Museum of Natural History

In April, I had the opportunity to meet some friends from the internet!  I've been corresponding with the Bolton Girls for over five years now- wow!  When they came to New York City before their cruise, our families met up to visit the American Museum of Natural History.  It's one of my favorite places to explore. Of course, we visited the dinosaurs first.

The Bolton Girls are a lot of fun. Four of them came on this trip, and we all had a great time. It must be fun to live in such a large, rambunctious family! Between the four of them, the Bolton Girls knew almost everything about all the dinosaurs. I just had to sit back and relax and they explained everything to me.

Look at this giant tortoise! Can you believe that a tortoise that big walked the Earth, so long ago? There were many other turtles as well. I decided sea turtles are my favorite kind. Do you like turtles?

After the dinosaurs, we headed to the hall of ancient mammals. I had been there with Katia in February, so I was a bit more prepared to be a host. I had the best time with Taryn especially. She just seemed to understand me so well!

At the end of the day, we all gathered under this mammoth for one last photo. I hugged all the girls good-bye as I left to catch the subway home to my house with my parents. It was so fun to meet friends from the west, but it is always so difficult to say good-bye, not knowing when you'll see one another again. Have you ever met a friend from out of town? How do you keep in touch?

  1. I have a friend from California. We only get to see each other every few years because I live all the way across the country! I get to email her, but it's so much less exciting than seeing her in person!

That turtle is huge! I'm glad I wasn't alive millions of years ago!

  2. Inky-
Wow what a cool place! Those glasses chains that Taryn (???) had! Do you know where she got those! I want to do a blog on here and am wondering if you could give me some reasons it's safe website to use to prove to my parents! That would be really helpful!
    Thanks

  3. Hey Inky,

I am so glad that you got to meet Taryn, Marsali, and the gang! I really enjoyed my visits with them. Marsali and I are great friends, and I'd love to see her again someday (and you, too!!). Most of my friends live out of town, so I try to visit them as often as money allows. Sometimes I may write letters. Usually, I keep in touch via Facebook, but you know that already. :P

That tortoise is so huge compared to you and Taryn! I think I'd be more than a little bit scared of that thing, and I do consider myself brave in most cases.

  6. Wow, looks like a lot of fun! I'm glad you got to see each other, and that you had such a great time.

We've never really met a friend from out of town because we live so far away from most of the people we correspond with on our blog. We hope to someday. Maybe someday we'll get to meet you, Inky! :-)

  8. Hi Inky! I have several out-of-town friends! My friend Allie is coming to visit us this week! You can read more about it on my blog, Always Amanda (click my name). I love your blog and would love it if you checked out mine! I like to keep in touch with my friends by texting them, but also writing actual letters by hand. There's something so magical about receiving something in the mail, and then sending something back!
