American Girl Place & Central Park Zoo

Inky & Katia at AGP NY

While Katia was visiting, we had to visit American Girl Place.   Katia was so sweet to bring matching Cheburashka tees for us to wear.  I thought it would be fun to pretend we were twins, but no one believed me when I said Katia was my twin!

Inky's Hair at AGP

I had my hair done at American Girl. My moms are always telling me that it is way too expensive, but they finally gave in. Doesn't it look cute? I chose ribbons to match my favorite swimsuit.

Katia on 5th Avenue

After AGP, I took Katia to one of my favorite places- the Central Park Zoo! To get there, we had to walk up 5th Avenue. Katia loved seeing all the famous shops, like Saks and Bergdorf Goodman. Me- I just wanted to see the animals! I took this photo of Katia on Central Park East- doesn't she look pretty?

Central Park Zoo

The Central Park Zoo is very small, but I love it just the same. Katia's favorite animal is the polar bear, so we stopped by to see Gus. Can you see Gus in the background of this photo?

Central Park Zoo

We also had to see the penguins in the penguin house. The problem with penguin photos is that they are super speedy! Can you see the giant penguin in this photo?

Central Park Zoo

Once you complete the little loop of the zoo, you end up at the big sea lion pool! Here I am with a sea lion. They were really active that day- they kept swimming 'round and 'round and jumping high into the air. Sea lions are so cool!

Central Park Zoo

Of course, we had to take a photo on the big Eagle sculpture. Last year, my mom took a similar photo of me and my friend Maiki on the same sculpture!

Waiting for the train

Then, it was time to go home. I had to grab my things so I could head to Lincoln Center for ballet class. I snapped this photo of Katia waiting for the train. Katia loves subways- she was telling me that the Moscow subway is the busiest in the world. The New York City subway is special too- it has more stops than any other subway system in the world.

I love living in a city- there is always so much to do and so much to explore! What is your favorite thing about the city where you live?

  1. That seemed like so much fun!
Well... Since I don't live in the city I can't say what I like about it... I prefer the country side where I live. There is also always something new to discover here, thought there are lots of differences! But I like going to all the stores in town! (:
I just love Katia's shirt by the way!

    1. Lissy,
You are so lucky to live in a city with all your family! My grandparents live in Wisconsin and New Mexico and my aunts and uncles live all over the world! It's fun to visit them, but sometimes I wish we could all get together for dinner at one time.

  3. Your hair looks amazing inky! I`m glad you guys had fun.
My favorite thing to do is go to the best bagel place, it`s about an hour away but worth it. Then we have a picnic at the park/ petting zoo. ;)

    1. What do you like to get at the bagel place? My favorite is a toasted onion bagel with scallion cream cheese and tomatoes and onions! (Make sure you brush your teeth after one of those!)

  4. We do not live in or near a city so I am not sure what I would love, yes I do, I would love having things to do. lol Life gets so boring around here. I cannot wait to visit the city next month. You probably have more people in a block of your city than we have in our whole town.. LOL

I am sooooo glad that you and Katia are having fun together, friendship is always a great thing, and you got to see a lot of animals playing around, that is way kewl.

    See ya soon,

    Hugs,

    1. Taryn, we are going to have so much fun together! We do have lots and lots and LOTS of people here. Sometimes it stinks, like when you have to ride the subway with hundreds of other people and your face is smushed into somebody's armpit!

  7. Inky,

Ugh, do I have to answer that?! The city I live in currently is BORING! I much prefer NYC, with its subway, shopping, and theatre district. There is nothing interesting about a city obsessed with remembering the American Civil War. I'm sorry. War is stupid. War is boring. I do not care to remember Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson, even if my human was born on Lee's birthday.

Okay, maybe there is one good thing. Carytown is the greatest shopping district around, with a historic movie theatre (that puts on an annual French Film Festival) and the toy store I bought your panda journal at! Okay, and maybe Maymont Park is pretty great, too. I guess. There are animals there, but none as cool as red pandas. Still, with a Victorian era house inside the park, it's nice to visit. Maybe I'll get to go someday soon.

  9. Inky, I love the way they did your hair! Did you know I have bangs now? teehee I also love that first photo of you and Katia.

I live in a pretty small town and the thing I like best is that it's so friendly and fun to live in. There are cool shops and restaurants and we usually run into friends wherever we go, whether the post office or the park or the library.

  10. Inky-
I love that sweat shirt did you make it? If you did where did you get the actual sweat shirt or did you make that too? I really want one! I'm going to Chicago Wednesday, any places that I should visit besides the American Girl store. My mom and sister are saying that we're getting an AG store here at the mall but I still want to go! It's supposed to be really cool!

    1. Hi Mel,

My sweatshirt is from All Dolled Up. If you're going to Chicago, I definitely recommend the Shedd Aquarium. They have WHALES! Have fun on your trip!

  11. Inky,
We used to live in a small town and it was awful, except the people were nice. Now we have moved to a bigger city and I love all the shops and things to do and see. The only downfall is traffic jams ( no subway here) and it takes a long time to get to places during rush hour. I miss St. Louis because my family loves the sports teams there and the wonderful Italian food.

Your pictures from your trip looked like you both had a lot of fun. Penguins, big cats, monkeys and lizards are our favorite places to visit when we go to the zoo! You know if your dancing and ranger life dreams don't work out, you would be a most excellent photographer. That picture of Katia is wonderful!

    Love,
    Rylan

  12. Hi,

I just had to comment because I will be in New York for a full week in April. My son is competing at the YAGP finals so we will be there with him. I didn't know if you were a ballet dancer, but if you are, I figure you would know what YAGP is. I'm an adult AG collector so my husband and I will be going to AGPNY as well :) Should be a fun week in the city.

Inky, I really like your hair braided with those super cute ribbons!

    Have a good night,
    Laura
