Flushing Meadows Park

Picnic in Flushing Meadows Park

Hi everyone! Guess where I went? Flushing Meadows Park! It has been very warm in New York City- it got all the way up to 90°F! That is 32°C! Since it is still so early in the season, our heater is still on in the apartment. My family decided to go have a picnic in the park under the cherry trees.

My friend Karma mentioned on her blog that she loves to climb trees. I told her that we're not supposed to here in the city- but guess what! I looked all around and saw no park police, so I climbed a cherry tree. Karma is right, it was awesome.

Picnic in Flushing Meadows Park

It was a fun afternoon. We brought cold ginger peanut noodles, pitas, and a big tub of hummus. We saw under the cherry trees right next to the Unisphere and relaxed. It was so nice to spend time with my moms out under the blue sky!

Do you have a park near your house? What is your favorite thing about it?

  1. Hi Inky- the picture of you in the cherry tree was so beautiful. I live in the country so every where around my house is like a park. In 1964 I went to the World's Fair so I guess I've been to Flushing Meadows Park but I was little so I don't remember much. I'm glad there are nice places close to where you live so that you can get outside and enjoy nature. Tupper

  2. That cherry tree photo was stunning, Inky! :)
Flushing Meadows Park looked really fun. I do recognize those towers from Men in Black, I love those movies.
I'm glad you had fun at the park!

  3. Yay Inky! You got to climb a tree! Wow, I'm surprised at how hot NY has been. It's only been in the 80's here in Tucson.
We do have a lot in common. Speaking of names, I forgot that Inky is a nickname for Marina! My sister's nickname is Rina.
We have more in common, too. My mama was raised in New Jersey (in suberbia), one state away. I think she would have liked NYC better than NJ. But really, she's not a city girl. She said the West kept calling to her.
I have to get ready for school, but I'll write again soon.
    hugs,
    Karma

PS: Sorry for the deleted comment. I tried to type too quickly and there were a lot of typos that I didn't even catch! :P

  6. That looks like a really cool park. We do have parks nearby, but we like outside the city and at the edge of the mountains so we like to go on trails. But parks have playgrounds and that's super fun!

  8. Yum, hummus sounds good right about now!
Flushing Meadows Park looks really neat! The coolest park by me is Maymont which is half park and half historical museum, but I haven't been myself. It's usually a place that Laura likes to take other traveling girls - not her own. ;)
